Beth Walls, the Borough Tax Collector is available to assist residents on Monday evenings from 5:00pm to 8:00pm by phone at 856-468-5228 or in person at the Borough Finance Office.

Deductions for Senior/Disabled:
Annual deduction of $250.00 from property taxes for homeowner's age 65 or older and/or disabled persons who meet certain income residency requirements is available through the Borough.

Veterans Deduction:
Annual deduction of $250.00 from property taxes for qualified veterans and unmarried surviving spouses is available through the Borough.

  • Tax bills are sent out in July with four quarterly stubs.
  • If your taxes are escrowed through your mortgage company, you will receive an "advice only" bill.
  • All quarters have a ten-day grace period.
  • On the eleventh day, interest will accrue, retroactive to the first.
  • Payments are accepted by mail or in person during regular business hours.
  • You may also drop your payment in the mail slot located on the front door of the Municipal Building.
  • Forms such as Veterans and Senior Deductions, Petitions of Appeal, etc. are available in the Finance Office of the Municipal Building, otherwise you can download from the County Website.
  • Our Tax Collector is available to assist residents on Monday evenings from 5pm to 8pm.

The Tax Assessment Office is now operated by the Gloucester County Office of Assessment.

Filing a Tax Appeal in 2017

You can stop by the Clayton office between 8:30am and 4pm Monday through Friday and pick up a form or you can go online to the forms page of the Gloucester County website. Look for "Forms" on the left, click and then look for "Filing a Tax Appeal in 2017." Please print all pages.

Water / Sewer


Water bills are mailed out in March and payment is due on April 1st.
Water is based on consumption.
Water minimum has been amended to $220.00 for the first 30,000 gallons.
(Public Notice Ordinance No. 2014-6 June 26th 2014)
The bill is based on the minimum plus excess usage over the 30,000 gallons.

Gallonage Billing Amount per 1,000 Gallons
30,001 to 80,000 $3.50
80,001 to 100,000 $4.45
100,001 to 150,000 $5.70
Over 150,000 $6.30

 

Grace period is 15 days. 
A 10% penalty is applied after the 15th day. 

Sewer bills are mailed out in September and payment is due on October 1st. 
Sewer is a flat rate of $400.00. 
Grace period is 15 days. 
A 10% penalty is applied after the 15th day.

For your convenience, we have a payment mail slot located in the front door entrance of the Municipal Building.  Please place your stub and your check in an envelope.

There will be a $20.00 charge each time a check is returned to us from your bank.


Pet License

Pet Licensing is from January 1st to March 31st. 
License is $7.00 for a neutered/spayed pet and $12.00 for an unaltered pet. 
Proof of rabies is required to obtain a valid licence for 2017.
Rabies must be current thru November 1st, 2017.

$2.00 for a replacement tag.
After March 31st, a $10.00 penalty will be applied to each license.
Penalty will be waived for a newly registered pet acquired after March 31st.
